Each article introduces you to a member of our team, offering an insight into the talent, experience, and personality behind our precision engineering. These are the people who make precision possible, and this series focuses on introducing and celebrating them.
In this feature, we would like to introduce you to ABS Precision’s new Business Development Manager, Paul Ellison.
Tell us a little bit about your role…
I joined ABS Precision as a Business Development Manager in September, with a focus to identify and secure new clients and business opportunities. This will involve visiting manufacturing companies across the UK, Europe, and beyond to showcase ABS Precision’s extensive capabilities, and win opportunities to deliver high-quality precision-manufactured components and assemblies.
What experience do you bring to the role?
I am a time-served CNC Turner with 35 years’ industry experience spanning sales and engineering. I have held positions such as Business Development Director and Business Development Manager for UK manufacturing companies supporting oil & gas, energy, aerospace, defence, space, IGT, marine, motorsport and F1 customers. During this time, I have worked with a breadth of organisations including Rolls-Royce, Siemens Industrial Gas Turbines, Safran, Babcock International, BAE Systems, Airbus, and Aker Solutions.
In addition, for 12 years I was the Owner and Managing Director of an engineering and manufacturing recruitment company identifying and providing skilled and semi-skilled machinists to companies in the UK and Norway.
What do you like about your job at ABS Precision?
I’ve spent most of my career in precision machining, and ABS Precision is a great example of a manufacturing company that truly understands who they are and what they do best. In business development, delivering on promises is critical and ABS Precision has a long and well-established history of consistently delivering on time and in full. That reliability gives me real confidence as a business development professional and makes it easy to stand behind the company and our commitments when speaking with customers.
What are you looking forward to achieving in your role?
I’m looking forward to becoming a valued and integral part of the team at ABS Precision, and to providing many new business opportunities and opening up new sectors of work for the company.
Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work. What are your hobbies?
I am an ordained minister of religion, serving as the Pastor of Kings Church Gateshead. The combination of my many years’ experience in manufacturing business development, and church make me a rather unique individual in a sales environment, where honesty and integrity are never compromised.
